Printing in the Libraries

From the Libraries Public Computers

Any user may print from the Libraries' public computers for a small fee.

From Your Laptop or Desktop Computer

UM students, faculty and staff may send print jobs from personal or office computers to the Libraries' printers from anywhere -- on or off campus, from campus departments and/or dorms.

Here's how:

WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS:

Refer to this 2 page guide Laptops and the Libraries, or download and install the appropriate printer driver software:

Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7:
32-bit Operating Systems

Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7:
64-bit Operating Systems

To determine which Windows operating system you have, do this:

  1. Click "Start." Click "Run" or "Start Search."
  2. Type msinfo32.exe. Press the "Enter" key.
  3. In "System Information," review the value for the System Type item:

For 32-bit editions of Windows, the value of the System Type item is x86-based PC.

For 64-bit editions of Windows, the value of the System Type item is x64-based PC.

 

MACINTOSH OPERATING SYSTEMS:

MAC Operating System 9

MAC Operating System X (10.3 & 10.4 Tiger)

MAC Operating System 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) [same instructions]

Locate a Print Station

Library printers are networked so that print jobs can be picked up at any campus library location.
