Printing from Your (Mac OS X) Computer to a Library Printer
Scope: This guide explains how to use the UM Libraries' print system to print jobs sent from non-library computers running the Macintosh operating system X (version 10.3 or 10.4) to library printers. This service allows students, faculty, and staff to send print jobs from anywhere on the campus network: laptops (wireless too), department/office computers, dorm room computers, etc.
OFF CAMPUS?? You need to set up a VPN before you can utilize this service.

Overview
After downloading the appropriate software (once only) and configuring your system, you send your print job to the Libraries' print system where it sits in a queue. Within 4 hours, you go to a library print station, swipe one of the cards mentioned below, identify and select your job from the queue, and print it out.
You must print out the job within 4 hours of sending it or it will be dropped from the queue.
If this is your first time printing (or photocopying) in the Libraries, you'll need to have one of the following to retrieve your print job:
1. Download/install Mac OS X printer software if this is the first time you are printing from your computer to a library printer.
2. If the Popup Installer doesn't automatically launch, locate the zipped version of the software on your desktop. Double-click on LibrariesPrinters_OSX.pkg.zip to unzip it, and then on the yellow icon, LibrariesPrinters_OSX.pkg to launch the Popup Installer.
3. On "Introduction" click Continue.
4. On "Read Me" click Continue.
5. On "Select Destination" confirm Hard Drive is selected and click Continue.
6. On "Installation Type" click Upgrade.
7. In the "Authenticate" pop-up, enter your administrator name and password. If you have not created a password, leave blank and click OK.

13. Open Hard drive, then Applications, then Utilities, then Printer Setup Utility.
14. For this step, the instructions are slightly different depending on whether you are using 10.3 or 10.4: |
15. Open "Device" pull-down menu, and select Pharos Print Server.
16. Add the Libraries Black/White printer by entering the information as follows:
