McKeldin Library
McKeldin Library is the main library on campus. It offers a wide variety of services, spaces, and collections to support research, teaching, and learning across disciplines.
Get help at one of our two service desks whenever McKeldin is open (including during Late Night Study):
- Library Services Desk (1st floor)
- TLC Tech Desk (2nd floor)
Talk to a librarian (in-person walk-in hours are Monday-Thursday from 10am-5pm)
We offer a wide range of technology, including:
- Copiers, printers, and scanners
- Public computers
- Laptops, chargers, and other equipment you can borrow
- GIS and Spatial Data Center
- Memory and Podcasting Lab
Several campus units provide services within McKeldin, each with their own hours of operation:
- Adaptive Technology Lab (1st floor, Accessibility & Disability Service)
- Footnotes Cafe (1st floor, Dining Services)
- Graduate School Writing Center (5th floor, Graduate School)
- Undergraduate Writing Center (4th floor, Department of English)
McKeldin is home to several collections, including:
- General Collection (Stacks and Folio)
- East Asia Collection (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language print materials)
- Government Documents and Maps
- Juvenile Collection (children’s books)
- Media collection (Bluray, DVD, VHS, and Laserdisc)
- Periodicals (journals, magazines, newspapers, and microform)
- Popular Reading Collection (novels and audiobooks)
- Reference Collection

- Search WorldCat UMD -- you can filter search results to limit to McKeldin, if desired
- Use the floor plans to find items on the shelf using their collection and call number [link]
